ABRAMS INDUSTRIES® MANAGEMENT
Dr. Jürgen Abrams
Founder & CEO
Just 5 years old and the proud owner of his first bike, he suddenly had a flat tire. When he asked if his father would fix the tire for him, the answer was: “No, you have to do it yourself.”
A sad moment for him, as he had hoped for help. But at the same time, it was his first lesson in manual dexterity and trusting his own skills. Later positions at global market leaders such as the SCHOELLER Group (specialty paper) and PORSCHE (R&D center for sports cars) shaped his experience in the industry.
His university studies in industrial engineering and business informatics provided him with excellent knowledge, with which he was able to found the ABRAMS Group.
Special steel was a particular motivation for him, as it is used in almost all industries. Some trusted people advised him not to go into the industry as there are to many competetors already. His clear answer at the time, despite of the fact that there were actually over 60 competitors: “Yes, but none of the providers take care of the customer’s real technical and commercial needs – that’s exactly what I want to change.”
He spent six months developing his business model on 8 m2 in the basement of a residential building: desk, computer, telephone, fax… and certainly more ideas than could fit in or on the sideboard.
With passion and steel, he built up an impressive team over the years, which developed remarkable partnerships with thousands of industrial customers worldwide, from large industrial global corporations to small businesses.
Dr. Abrams enjoys spending his free time with his family, is passionate about mountain biking, is an enthusiastic participant in the Mille Miglia and is constantly working on new ideas – this is how ABRAMS.wiki came about.

1. Which special event has remained in your memory?
One event in particular that has stayed with me and that I always like to recall took place just 10 months after I joined ABRAMS in 2005. At that time, I was still working as a student assistant. After a joint customer visit with Dr. Abrams, he surprised me with an offer that I will never forget. He offered me the position of management assistant. This moment was overwhelming for me. It was not only the offer itself that filled me with joy and pride, but also the fact that Dr. Abrams had recognized my potential and talent in such a short time. It showed me that he trusted me and my work completely and wanted to integrate me firmly into his team. Although this event happened 18 years ago, it still fills me with the same joy and gratitude today as it did then. It was a decisive turning point in my career and has contributed significantly to my current position as COO at ABRAMS®.
2. What expectations do you have of yourself and the company in the future?
In my role as COO of ABRAMS®, I am always aware that learning never stops. There are always new things to discover and understand in the dynamic world of the steel industry and in business in general. My expectation of myself is to constantly stay curious, educate myself and always be up to date, whether it is in relation to the steel industry, the needs of our customers or the latest trends in business management. I see my duty as a role model for the whole team by constantly striving to improve myself and drive the company forward. The satisfaction of our customers is always at the center of my efforts. At the same time, I am particularly keen to support our employees and offer them opportunities for further development. For ABRAMS® and for me personally, standing still means going backwards. That is why it is my firm conviction and expectation that we will continue to develop, remain innovative and always strive to improve. This is the path I see for myself and for ABRAMS® in the future.
3. What is the most important thing you have learned during your time at ABRAMS®?
I have learned many valuable lessons during my time at ABRAMS®, but the most important thing that has always emerged as a central point is the importance of trust. Having and giving trust is the foundation of any successful collaboration. I remember clearly how Dr. Abrams placed his complete trust in me after only 10 months of working together. This act of trust not only shaped my professional career at ABRAMS®, but also my perspective on leadership and teamwork. It showed me how powerful and motivating trust can be. That is why it is deeply important to me that every one of our outstanding employees knows and feels that we trust them. I firmly believe that trust in the skills, ideas and actions of our employees is the key to our collective success. It creates an environment where each individual can reach their full potential and feel confident to put forward innovative ideas and take responsibility. This is the culture I want to promote and live at ABRAMS.
